sounds hard enough to just find the parts. Well, its still in my mind. I'm just tired of seeing 3rd gens with 350 crate motors in them....it gets really borring
I'm new to this board and I would like some info on this as well, as I'm also very interested in doing this to a 86 T/A, all help would be appreciated in this endeavor.
Thanks
Tons of people have done the 3.8 swap by using a GN engine, removing the AC, using a 700R4 and a common stock 3rd gen rear.
There are a few threads over on turbobuick.com in the TTA section and the hybrid section to help you out.
The general consensus from TTA owners though is to do it right (eg to mimic a TTA in all aspects) it's cheaper to buy a TTA.
The engine is not a regular GN engine.
The heads, valve covers, down pipe, motor mounts, crank, pistons, transmission, drive shaft, AC lines, intercooler, intercooler shroud, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, drive shaft, computer (chip), MAP, engine wiring harness, gages and front springs are not GN or standard V8 F-Body parts. The TTA's rear end is also the 3.27 Borg Warner 9 Bolt rear and TTA's had 1LE Brakes.
(both relatively uncommon in most 3rd gens)
Have fun
well it will never really be done right becasue its not a real tta...lol my buddy has a nice one. I'm getting ready to swap my lc2 drivetrain in a really clean gta.
I plan to re-use my gta rear and get 3.42 gears, 700r4 and an ls1 aluminum driveshaft. I removed the a/c a while back and I will use all the gn's parts and get a downpipe made. I don't predict it being to god awful hard
