302 Dyno numbers

Yesterday i had the 302 i'm going to drop into my Bird dyno'd. Gave up on the V6 idea and no one runs 302's these days anyway.

First the specs..

Worked over Trickflow R Heads. Flow 334/257 at .600"
Edelbrock Victor JR intake manifold
850 speed demon
JE TSGP pistons
Eagle rods
220/240 .600/.625" 112LSA Cam

Let me first say that 302's sound AWESOME and are orgasmic above 6000rpm. The 8000rpm scream of this engine makes it well worth it.

Onto the numbers. She made 511 horsepower at 7600rpm and 399lbs of torque at 5250rpm. I'm waiting on my T-56 but i hope this project will be done within the next month.

put a 7800 rpm chip in it and leave off the floor! that thing would pull the wheels hard! too bad you won't be able to get a 7.5" to live in it!

Man Speed that smokes, that is some serious head flow. How managable is that going to be on the street. I bet you are going to be running some steep gears in that thing. I remember one of the baddest sounding cars I ever heard was an NHRA leagal car that was a 62 vette with a destroked engine that was a 262 and he said it turned 12 grand, that thing was amazing to hear when he launched it with a manny, I think it turned like low low 10's, Its been many years since that happend and I still remember that car.

There's a Chev shortbox pickup who runs regionally in Stock Eliminator. He runs a 4.3 V6 and the truck runs high 14's here at altitude. You should hear that V6 going down the track. I swear it sounds like it goes to 10,000 rpm.

My mechanic actually does run a Chevy 302. It's methanol engine in a Regal but unlike this guys; it exists.

He's now probably building an eleventy billion horsepower Chevy Pontiac Nova Am Eclipse GT Spyder Type R, with a supercharged intercooled turbo LS24 (and one of those eBay blower motors for good measure). Can't wait to see the Dyno sheets on that. Seriously people like this concern me hopefully the mods do something about this guy. And just to be fair to Speed_Kills sorry if this is all a bad rap, just post us up some pics of you and your cars we'll be glad to go to bat for you, we'll be waiting but not holding our breathe.
