tough decision???

well, i have a 1986 irocz 305 tpi 700r4 and a 1986.5 supra non turbo 5 speed with a 4.30 limited slip in it.... ok to the point my camaro has a 118k mile 305 with a bad front seal and other problems so it need a new motor well i have the opioin to sell the supra for 2500-3000 and invest that into a new motor for my camaro, and i was wondering if i can build a strong motor for the cheap of a budget, i really want to build a nos motor, what i mean by this is build a motor that can withstand a 250 shot minuium??? is it possibly to build one with this cheap of a budget??? or should i just wait and keep the camaro till i have more money and just build the supra now or what??? what i am saying is i dont want to invest my only 3000 into a weak motor that i cant dominate round here with... another goal of mine is to build enough car to beat my friends 95 cobra with a 331 stroker it only has a stage 1 cam and milled gt 40 heads

what should i do

I don't think $3000 will get you a car that will last under that nitrous shot. You have more to deal with then putting in a better engine. Think about the entire drivetrain from front to rear. And then the suspension/tires to actually get traction. Something is going to break before the race is done.

If you just MUST try for your moment of glory against the Cobra, I suggest you put nitrous on just as is. Count on something breaking but hope you finish the race before it happens. Keep the rest of your money to repair the car. You'll need it.

I agree. There is no point to having power unless the suspension is there to make it hook. That's a lot of spray...what kind of ET's are you looking for?

I think you lost everybody's interest by calling out a highly unrealistic goal. Good luck and let us know what happens.

11's ain't happening for 3 grand...

Even my super cheap self can't swallow that one...

You can break 13's and get into the 12s. If you know cars, you'll know that's fast. Most street cars don't get deep into the 13's if they're lucky.

You need a savings plan...

yea i after i got to looking around at motor and prices 11 aint happing but yea even a low 13's street car in my opinion is haulin ***, but now i got new plans either im gonna trade my camaro for a supra turbo or im gonna take the time and money when i have it and build me a big block with all forged internals and maybe throw a 300 shot of nos to it. yall think it will hold?? and another quick question is if i built a bbc to about 550 at the rearwheels and throw a 300 shot to it what do yall think my 1/4 et's might be???? just a ruff idea this being i got a good drivetrain and getting all the power to the ground..... but i planning on keeping the stock body mean all metal no tubbin or nothing
