427 Chassis Dyno Results - Engine Swap - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

I put my 427 Camaro on the Dynojet today and here are the results:

Normally Aspirated: 345rwhp at 5,800rpm, 332rwtq
100 shot of nitrous: 420rwhp at 5,800rpm, 404rwtq

Here's the combo:

9.5:1 compression
-063 oval port heads
Approx. 240 at .050 cam (actual specs unknown)
Edelbrock Torker 2-O intake
Holley 750DP
1 7/8 Hooker Super Comps
4" Mufflex exhaust with Flowmaster race muffler
TH350 with 3,500 stall speed
3.73 rear gear

This is the first time I've ever played with nitrous, and I'm now a believer. It's like a different car on the bottle.

I was expecting 350rwhp N/A. Pretty close at 345. It's gone 11.91 at 116 on motor.

The gold engine color was the previous owner's idea but it goes well with the tan/saddle color interior.

I believe gold was Olds.

(May be wrong, though. . .)

I think you're right. Pontiac was more of a blue/green.

Some of the early olds engines were gold. Buicks were red. Chevys were orange. Cadillac were navy blue. Pontiacs were a very light blue.

the olds 442`s with a 455 were light blue but all the rest were gold, nice to see another bbc in a third gen, good luck with it, sounds like a nice driver!

Oldsmobile used about 3 different shades of gold/bronze over the years. When I touched up the motor, the early color from the 1950's was the closest match to what the original builder used.

Very nice, does it fit under the factory hood? It looks low enough that it could.

BTW - Olds used gold, Pontiac used a green/blue color, Buick used red, and Chevy used orange. I though for a minute you just overbored a 425 Olds and dropped it in, untill I actually looked at the motor.

Yes, I have the stock hood with some trimming of the inner structure. It has an NOS Top Shot hidden nitrous system because there's no room for a plate system even with the short Torker intake.

That Torker has got to be holding you back. A cowl and a Victor Jr. or even Performer RPM would probably pick you up 30-40 HP.

I agree. But I really don't want to change the hood.

*Pontiac was light blue, not gold. I think Olds was gold...

On a big block? No way the #2904 Victor Jr. intake would fit under my stock hood. It has a 5.9" carb pad height versus the 3.05-4.6" angled pad height on the Torker.

I don't have port size or flow #'s available for them. I know my '66 702's have 260cc intake ports and 98cc chambers. The 063's look like the same heads for the next years with slightly larger chambers. If 2.06/1.72" valves, then that would probably restrict them on a 427, but I would still think the Vic Jr. or RPM would pick it up over the Torker.

But, nitrous is cheap. . .

Numbers are great but I have to admit I expected alot more torque from a 427 at the rear wheels but either way that car sounds fun.

Well then the VIC Jr label and the raised plenum along with the big runners must be completely mislabled on my car.. Hmm... Do I need to take pictures to prove it? And also, can I get some $$ after proving it?

I said there is no way it would fit under MY hood. If it fits under your stock hood, I sure would like to see it. And in return, you get the satisfaction of being helpful.

Ill see if I cant get some pictures. But yes, this is a stock hood, along with a NOS plate undernite my carb.
