I am pretty sure that the people that do the LSX swap want everyone to see it. I know I want everyone to see my LT1.

Actually... I had that idea before I swapped in my LS1... Was trying to come up with a way to turn a TPI into a shell, or cover, and stick it on top the LS1. However, I realized how difficult that would be to do and make look good. Plus, there is no mistaking the LS1 if you know what you are looking at. And for the people that dont know, you can just tell them its the original motor and they'll probably believe you.
If you tell them its a factory 5.7 Tuned Port motor...technically you arent lying
a custom sheet metal intake could almost make it look like a Holley stealth ram setup but then again the port spacing. header tube spacing, and coil packs will give it away instantly
yea wow didnt even think about the coil packs haha actually i wanted your guys opinion what do you think would be better i have enough cash to either heavily build a tpi l98 that is in the car using turbos i know there hp like to flat line or swap and mildly modify an ls1 i want also get decent economy and retain value both set ups are manual also one last thing anyone ever throw a t56 behind an l98 its already set up for a t5 thanks for your ideas

Alot of people put the T56 behind the L98's as well as many other motors in our cars. There is a tech articles section on the main page, look in there.
I think that if you can afford and are capable of doing the LSx swap that it would be worthwhile. The economy aspect as well as the potential it has is amazing. It will def. keep the value of the car high if you do it correctly. I just finished my 388cu in short block and for the money I spent building that, looking back I wish I would have bought a LSx T56 combo. Have fun, and do a little searching and browsing here on the boards. Its amazing what people have done or are doing. Goodluck,
Dennis

i agree with him i just finished a bad *** 406 build and t56 and i would have been better offf with a lsx t56 combo you put heads and cam on a lsx motor and your gonna have a very healthy motor
ls1 motors and very potent. use a nice breathing exhaust(headers-back), ls6 intake manifold, and even a cam and youll be well over 300whp. i believe my friends auto ls1 with headers-back, slp lid, ls6 manifold, tune made 320whp or more. now add a nice cam to that and that car will move out hard. plus turbos will never be as reliable as all motor.
yea true well i been thinking for a while and going with the ls1 t56 im getting them friday my goal is to be quick and as light as possible and good on gas im ordering chromoly everything ect im i will be driving this car like it was meant to every day and as long as i can rape a mustang im happy im starting this project in my class next week ill put up picks as i get them enjoy
Sounds like a fun project, i'm thinking about doing an LSx swap myself, i have a 305, CARB motor i pulled out of an 85 z28, but after talking with z28*****, i don't think im going to use it as he made a good point, spend a little more, come out on top.
Here in California, we don't have MANY third gens, and the ones we do have around here are beat to death, and I don't want to keep my car looking like theres =D, so im working on sanding and getting it primered, having my buddies paint shop atleast run a base coat, just to get rid of the uglyness for a while, and doing the LSx swap, to have the performance, fuel mileage, i could careless (i don't drive much anymore and i've got 4 vehicles, 2 of which are 3 and 4 cylinder motors) you tell me what kinda gas milage i get
nope... glad you got the joke and didn't take offense. I dunno why you would want to hide it. Be proud man, that's what I want under my hood. I'm jealous. I'm sure that's what will end up under my hood eventually...
