Swap questions

ok i have a 89 RS with a 305 tbi. i was wondering how i convert it to a tpi set up because i eventually want to go with a twin turbo setup. also i was wondering if that would be the best route or if i should just swap it with a 5.7 tpi. ive heard that the 5.7 is a pretty easy swap with minimal fabrication. what all is needed for a 5.7 swap? and is a twin turbo setup the best choice?

thanks for your time

Re: Swap questions

The engine swap is easy. Its a direct swap as the 2 engines exteriors are identical( you can't tell the difference by just looking at them).
The tpi swap is a little more indepth.
Fist decide what tpi you want to use maf or sd. it would be easier to do maf as that is what ur car would have had in 89. I would get a tpi from an 89 it will make the swap easier then you just have to repin a few wires on c100 driverside bulkhead connector, and c207 the ip connector under pass side dash. You also will eliminate the vss buffer box(yellow) same area as c207 as the tpi units don't use them. you will also need to swap the fuel pump and sending unit and the rubber hoses that go from the hard fuel lines on the drivers side frame rail to the injector rail the tbi units won't work with the increased fuel pressure.
As far as the turbo swap you will want to convert the ecm to the typhoon/cyclone ecm search the boards for that one.
