Just today i picked up a 92 RS Camaro!<----- WOOOHOOO!! Now i had a 88 convertable with the same engine and rear gear, beleive to be the 2.73, and my 88 would run circles round this 92! But still not satisfied with the 88.. so my question to you guys is what would i need and how hard would it be to convert this 92 TBI to TPI... have an 85 z28 in the back yard with no motor, but it does have the intake and all the TPI from its original 305... or i know where there is a 86-89 iroc with a TPI 305 that has been wrecked and sitting for years, i could rob the engine or possibly the whole engine/top end to swap... orrrr if i were to build one of the couple 400 or 350's sittin around, and wanted to put one of these TPI systems on it again what all do i need.... i know i'm writing a novel and asking 4 different ?'s but any advise would be much appreciated!!

To be legal, the TPI system would have to be from a '90-'92 car and set up like a '92.
But, legalities aside:
Complete TPI hardware, harnesses, sensors, ECM; change the fuel pump in the tank; various fuel and water hoses.
To make it run like a TPI engine, you'd need TPI heads, cam, and exhaust. If a complete TPI engine in good running condition is available, that would be your best bet.
some of the throttle cable/bracket/TV cable stuff is no longer available new, and it isn't all identical, so I'd start there. If you can raid the '85, it should have a 3.23:1 posi. Yes, it's only 26 spline, but that should hold a TPI 350 on street radials. The '85 700R-4 is inferior to the trans in your RS. With any stock-looking TPI system I'd stop at 355, the 400 would want something like a n Accel/Lingenfelter SuperRam or a TPiS Mini-Ram3, and better heads.
If emissions are a concern, you'll be buying heads no matter what route you go, because the '85 heads don't have centerbolt valve covers, and your RS uses no-flowing swirl-port heads.
I beleive i'll just try to pick up the wrecked IROC and have a complete car to work from when i decide to do this.. or just leave it alone and have a nice daily driver... I'm confused though, what tranny does this 92 have?? why is it inferior to the 85 Z?
Read what he said again: It's the '85 TH700R-4 that is inferior to the '92. GM did some internal improvements starting in about 1988. Primarily an accumulator built into the valve body.
I'm running an '83 transmission in my Camaro, it does just fine. Has a shift kit, higher stalling converter, Vette servo and check valve, with a fresh rebuild.
Oh, buying a complete donor car is the right way to go if you do the TPI conversion.
ahhh ok i gotcha... well turns out i was wrong, the car in my back yard minus motor is a 88 Z not an 85, big bummer cuz it has the same 2.73 gears my 92 does.... sooo i did find out what year the wrecked Iroc is.. built in 6/86.. been in front end collision and hasnt ran in years.. at least 10-12 that i know of.... says under the hood its a 305, but was reading asn interesting article on the 86 iroc, says the 350 version wasn't released tell 87 right? BUT a few 350's did in fact leak out, one way of identifying from exterior was a exterior mounted third brake light on the back hatch... well this car indeed has a external mounted third tailight.. could it be a 350 with the 305 sticker on the radiator support???
So you could put an older tpi engine into a newer car because i have a 87 tpi system and i wanna put a tpi to my 91 RS.
Sorry Roysum85 not trying to take the thread from you
