I'm lost. I found a 99 Suburban in near perfect condition w/o a title for $1000. It has the 5.7 vortec engine and a 4l60e transmission, but I don't know if i could use that transmission in my 84 camaro. If so will I have to do any modifications for it to work? I asked this in the transmission subforum but thought i'd post it here since it's pertaining to a lsx swap. thanks you guys
only 5.7 is ls1
a 5.7 vortec is a sbc. ur truck is not lsx,
the trans is diff., since fbody use tq arm mount trans.
but u will be able to adapt the engine to your trans.
The 5.7 Vortec will bolt right up to what ever transmission is in your thirdgen, as long as you have a V8 in it already. Otherwise just find a 700R4 to use!
ok thanks. i was badly mistaken about the engine. i guess it was too good to be true and i will pass on it and save my money until i get a lsx swap into my cammy. thank you guys for your help. sorry to bother you.
No bother at all. Just setting the record straight.
And for what it's worth, it sounded like a good way to go to me. But, only as a Gen I Vortec swap. If you're looking for an LSx swap, you need to go 2000 or later if it's a truck.
thanks for setting that straight for me because i was thinking that the 99 trucks had it. lol. that shows how much i know. I was WAY too excited, but that's how you learn.
