Started my 2.8 to my 305 swap today

Well i started my swap today and what a pain to get the v6 out..This was done in my front yard with two trees a chain and a come-a-long..I pulled motor and tranny together to make it easier. The exhaust was a problem.Ended up taking the exhaust manifolds off to get it to come out..didn't know a v6 had 2.5 inch pipe off the exhaust let alone double wall pipe..here a some pics of what i did today..will move motor mounts tomorrow and clean up engine bay a little.I will try to get better pics tomorrow and replace these.

Re: Started my 2.8 to my 305 swap today

well my plans were changed on my 305 swap..i ended up selling my t5 tranny for 400 and bought a crate 350 with it from a guy down the street...little did i know that the 350 i got wasn't a 350.pulled the clutch and flywheel off sold it too and went to put my 305 flywheel on it and would not fit...got to lookin and the flywheel hole i needed was much bigger and had an external balance on it"crank"..turns out it is a 400 crank..so i got a stroker motor with 3600 miles on it for 400 bucks..i will put some pics up in the morning

Different size hole and weight on the flywheel doesn't mean 400 crank. The pictures may shed some light, but you can't necessarily tell stroker from the outside.

Re: Started my 2.8 to my 305 swap today

i know five7 it doesn't mean its a stroker...i got in touch with the original owner of the motor and he had it in a mud truck...he said the 350 was not enough for him so he got a stroker kit for it...he got a crank with an external balance which would explain why my flywheel wouldn't fit it..he is getting a parts list for me for what he put in the motor so i can keep the waranty on the new stroker kit he put in it...i know i need to clean it up a little ..gonna put the fuel lines on it tommorow and hook up my wiring harness and fire it off

Again, weight or no weight, external or internal balance, doesn't affect the fit to the crankshaft. 2-piece vs. one-piece rear main seal is what caused the change.
