I notice the thread up top about big blocks and lots of intrest in headers but i was curious if anyone has used shorty headers and had the same problems with fitment, any and all info would help. (thinking about a BBC swap with a 454 crate VI with a t56 swap need more info though)

The only shorties I've seen are block huggers. Most of them dump right where the crossmember goes, so wouldn't work in a third gen. Might if you use a tubular crossmember.
the shorties i found are on summit for a 454 VI but they are listed for full size trucks. not sure if the design would make the collector go right for our firewall or not but i thought i would just ask since it seems that everyone going for BBC in third gens are having problems for a direct bolt on. the link i am showing is all the shorties i have found for the VI BBC..... http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...115+4294902386 ... once i post this i will test the link make sure it works.

ok the link works. so if anyone has any option let me know. if the headers are a dud and doesnt work like im hoping for then ill simply just keep my 350 tpi set up and do simple bolt on mods like H/C/I.

There's nothing specific about the headers for a Mark VI BBC. The header bolt pattern is the same on all versions of the BBC. You just need a set of headers, long or short, that will fit into a third gen.

well im not really worried about at the cost mainly worried if it bolts up without beating of grinding my firewall. this camaro will be street driven and on the interstate. if i do this project with the BBC then i plan on going with the 454 HO crate from GM with a T56 trans ( im aware of the flywheel needing to be blanced) and because of the amount of power from the crate the rear end is defintly geting either a 12 bolt or 9 inch gotta do PRO AND CON list for the rear. Thanks for info

If cost is not an issue then why not go with the Hooker swap headers. They bolt up and take into account all those things that you are concerned about. I used Hedman (68610) but I had to "modify" the passenger side firewall and grind a little off of the drivers side lower control arm attach point. But they were only $153.00 and it's not a street car.
thanks this is freakin awsome now i dont have to worry about anything....cept of the usual bolting headers in a tight spot lol.
