newb swap question

hey guys, I apologize if this has been asked before, but i kinda ran out of time to search this. I have a 91 rs with a 305tbi. Im hunting down motors to swap in. question is I was told that I can use any 350 87+ to swap right into the tbi, can an lt1 be used or is it more things to swap? can it use the t5 that came in the rs. if this isn't possible, what engines with be the most hassle free to swap in. again to just plug right into the tbi setup. Im sure there are better ways to go, but in real hurry to get this car running. thanks in advance.

"Swap right in" is true with regard to bolting in (including the T5 transmission). But, the 305 ECM won't be happy. You're better off going to the TBI forum for the scoop on what that will take.

LT1 - It will "work", but it needs to be an LT1 swap. You won't be putting your TBI on it, using your TBI ECM, etc. The T5 will "fit", but you'll either be babying it, or looking for another transmission soon. Read the LT1 swap sticky in the top section of this forum for details on what that swap entails.

Re: newb swap question

thanks for the help, although I ended up scoring a 350 out of a 83 truck. I just have to pull it myself... but then again getting the motor for a 100 bucks is sweet. it has 10,000 miles on the rebuild. so I think now im just gonna need the tune.
