hydraulic roller to hydraulic tappet? need advice asap thanx

will my heads from my 88 iroc-z work without alteration if i put themm on an engine with a flat tappet cam in it? or will i need to change to a different head altogether? thanks guys

without getting way too detail oriented
they will fit

as far as factory sbc heads go just worry about the intended intake going on
up to 86 the intake to head bolts are traditional(all the same angle)
87 and up (not including aluminum ) have the center intake bolts canted at a different angle
then there is 97 up vortec which are different all together

there are other things to consider i thought id start there

well the reason im askin is cuz i bought a rebuilt 357 1 piece rms and made sure the heads would fit first. but today i bought a set of hydraulic flat tappet lifters and cam.... and i didnt know if the heads, roller rocker arms etc would need to be changed cuz the engine its goin on is a hydraulic roller cam and lifters?

Everything will work but the pushrods. You need longer ones for flat tappet.

thanks... i didnt mean to buy a flat tappet but now that i got it i didnt know if i should just send it back or use it. is there a specific size push rod i need? thanks

Yes, "stock".

I don't know the exact length off the top of my head, but it's whatever came with flat tappet engines.

If time isn't a factor, it would make more sense in the long run to send the flat tappet stuff back and get a roller cam. You don't need to replace the roller lifters, typically.
