355 engine build

Well I finally got some money to start buying the parts for my engine build when I get back from Iraq. The engine will be replacing the worn out 305 in my 89RS. This car is going to be built for the strip, but also be on the street alittle. I thought I'd post up what my plans are and get some feedback from the more expreance engine builders on the form.

I picked up a 89 rollerblock that was punched 30 over. I have a set of Speed Pro forged dome pistions, and plan on getting a set of Procomp 64cc aluminun head with 210cc intake runners, and 2.02/1.60 valves. The cam I would like to use is a Comp Cams roller with 283 int./303exh. duration and 0.511int./0.497exh. lift. I was planning on going forged crank and 5.7 rods. The intake I have is a Offenhauser 2x4 with 500 cfm Edelbrock carbs on top.
If I can get a little feedback on how while this combonation will work and maybe what HP it could put out.

I also have a set of Speed Pro forged flattops that I can put into it if they are better for this combonation.

Re: 355 engine build

I am actually in the process of building my 86 camaro and my build is very similar to yours. Same size heads, same block, forged pistons, but I am running a little smaller voodoo cam, and I have a 750cfm holley carb. I haven't completely finished it yet so I haven't put it on the rollers. But this car flys and is very nice to drive on the street. My last part of the project is the rear. Replacing the stock rear with a 4'11 posi. From the feel of the car I would say its pushing close to 400hp

Re: 355 engine build

Aerrtire check with Kross4031. They can give you all the info you need to put that motor in your car.

Vinny_86camaro Thanks for the reply. I'm hope to get at lest around 450hp out of this motor. The rear end will be my last part to get to (if I blow it before then), but I think I'll will only go 3.73.

Dose anyone know if the dome pistons will work in a 383 or do they just use flat tops?
