1987 Camaro 2.8 fi to 3.4

Just wanted some info on a swap from a stock 2.8 to a 3.4, Does the 3.4 have to come from a Camaro donor. Or can it be from s-10.

Because the 2.8 just won't cut it. Had a problem keeping up during the 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour. I have a 305 V8 but your only going to see about 35 more hsp, out of the 305. Cost to Carb., dist. and other items seems a bit much. I have read some articles that state that its not that much trouble to swap the 3.4 and you can keep the original dist. and fuel system.

Interesting. You could go with the tpi 305. That would be a decent gain in power/torque but would still keep your engine reliability good and costs down pretty good, too.
