2.8L mpfi to 3.4L swap: NEED HELP

Situation:

I bought all the upgrades for my 2.8L engine, and before I can send it off to the machine shop for boring and balancing, my brothers 95 Camaro 3.4L just became my new engine donor.

I just read the Tech Article on doing this engine swap, but I still have some questions that may have been overlooked.

When doing this engine swap, do I keep and use the 2.8L cylinder heads (mine are freshly rebuilt) for the 3.4L engine block and rotating assembly??

I have not looked at 3.4L engine outside of the old car yet, but does somebody have a better description of what is to be completed for installing the distributor. Is their a plug in the engine block top that simply needs to be removed for the installation of a distributor??

THANK YOU

the plug on the 3.4 can just be removed & the 2.8 distributor installed.

if the 2.8 heads have all new goodies on them, use themunless you don't want to deal w/setting the valves... can be tricky w/the 60* 6's sometimes

OK, that part is understood. Thank you very much for that information.

What about the flexplate? Does that stay on the 3.4L or do I have to use the 2.8L?

Waterpump: Why does that need to be swapped if retaining the 2.8L timing cover?

Thank You

You run the water pump that goes with the same year timing cover.

87 timing cover uses 87 water pump etc...

You must keep the flywheel for the 3.4 with that engine since they are balanced a hair differently.
