swapping a 2.8 to a 350

Hi, I am swapping out a 2.8 V6 from my 1986 camaro, and building a 350 to put in its place. It is a toy, and all of the electronics are going away. It has a 700r4 and I am finding out that this trans. will not bolt to my new motor. Is this correct? And should I find another 700r4 from a v8 or just go to a th350? I was told the early 700r4 has no electronics and would work fine after a pressure kit to assist with the tv cable problem. My 700r4 is rebuilt and would like to use it if it will fit. Thanks for any advice and help.
