Flywheel won't turn

I have and '85 camaro and I'm replacing its 2.8 liter V6. I need to attach the flywheel to the torque converter but the holes don't line up for the bolts and the flywheel won't spin, any suggestions?

Re: Flywheel won't turn

you are mating the new engine with the tranny already in the car ? if so you should be able to turn the fly wheel with your hands, if not then get a bud to turn the crank pully with a socket while you line up the holes. its tough to turn, may need a pair of gloves and just beast it. or you can stick a flat head in the teeth of the flywheel and turn it by the starter, make sure you are carful not to chip any teeth off though.

Let's back up a few steps.

Is the the V6 transmission? If so, stop, go get a V8 transmission.

If the flexplate on the V8 is 168 tooth (14"), stop, go get a 153 tooth (12-3/4") flexplate. They were used on the '83-'85 f-bodies.
