why the LS1?

well iv noticed in lots of f-bodies that were made before the 98-02 f-bodies lots of them are receving the LS1 treatment and well why is this such a populars engine why not just swap in a ls6 which is basically the same just with diffrent cam and some other stuff which is only a couple hundred extra. i know some do tons of mods to there new LS1 but iv seen several f-bodies that they swap in the LS1 and maybe just add a supercharger and thats all. so any othere reason why you can think of. i know the ls1 is more popular in the junkyards then crashed z06's with ls6's in them but still though i dont think iv heard of a third gen that had a LS6 dropped in.

Re: why the LS1?

because with a few slight changes the ls1 is or can be way better than an ls6.

Re: why the LS1?

Because you can get a used LS1 for much less money. Try finding a used LS6.

Re: why the LS1?

To hell with both. Why dont you see more 6.0 swaps. More cubes and a block you cannot distort/destroy, not to mention, ALLOT cheaper to get ahold of

Re: why the LS1?

LS6's are definitely a bit harder to find in this area and command a much higher price tag. Throw that money at an LS1 and you'll be in pretty good shape.

The truck motors are becoming much more popular, especially since they are more widely available. The all-aluminum LS1/6 used to be the holy grail, but people are finding you can grab the 5.3L and 6.0L for a lot less money and still have about the same stock horsepower.
