Major Question

I have a 91 Camaro RS with a 305 Throttle body that I am going to put into an 86 Trans Am that had a 305 Tune Port in it. Am I going to have any problems with the wiring harness or CPU? Will it just slip right in without a hitch or do I need to change something? Thanks for any help you can offer.

If you're putting the throttle body in the '86, you're going to have to change out all of the wiring.

If you're just putting the '91 longblock under the '86 TPI, the only issue will be the center intake manifold bolt angles.

Re: Major Question

That sucks I was under the impression that it was going to be just the motor swap. I have never dealt with wiring. How much of a headache is it??

Re: Major Question

What's actually broken? no need to make more headaches (aka wiring swap) than necessary.

As I said above, if you just change the engine, you won't have to change the wiring. You will have to change the intake manifold and deal with the bolt issue I talked about. Otherwise, the engine will bolt in under your existing '86 TPI.

If you put the "throttle body" induction system, engine, all of the stuff from the '91 into the '86, that's when you have to change the wiring, computer, etc.
