305 4bbl to 383 4bbl

I was wanting to start a motor swap on my 87 Z28. i was thinking of the stroked 350, but wanted to know if any particular year would be better or from a chevy 1500. I was leaning towards a TPI 350, but obviously making it carburated, probably a 750cfm edelbrock with the performer manifolds, shorty headers and 355-373 for gears..... i was wanting around 400+ hp to the rear......is that achievable with this plan...?

I was trying to make it a budgeted build of around 2500-3000 dollars. i was planning to use the accessories from the 305 for the 350 if the bolt patterns are the same.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this build???

For just the shortblock, or for the entire build?

Personally, I'd go with a later roller lifter one-piece rear main seal block with an internally balanced crank.

Re: 305 4bbl to 383 4bbl

i used an 86 block cause its what i had. but i like the fact that it was a 1 piece seal. you can make 400 at the crank pretty easy but at the tires gets a little harder.
