| broken flywheel teeth!! please help Ok, tonight i was gonna take my first drive in the car with the new 496", its a 10-1 motor, well, i changed the rotor and cap on the dist, because it was used and needed to be replaced. after doing so, i made sure everything was back in time, and started to fire it up, when i did so the engine kicked back on the starter and broke a tooth, i retarted the timing a little more and tried again, everytime it would start to fire, it would hit the missing tooth stop for a second and blow back up through the carb, then it got worse and now im missing about 15 teeth on my flexplate.... what caused the intial problem? i realize the timing was a little high, but i dont understand why when it gets t a broke tooth its blowing back up through the carb. and the starter is shimmed correctly, its not to deep or shallow, its breaking the teeth off approx 2/3 down the tooth
also the motor has about 30-40 minutes of break in time, started off with 150 psi cylinder pressure, its upto 165, but i still have a lot of blowby through the crank case breather, it hasnt ran under any load, approx how many hours before the blowby goes away? | | | |
