Fuel Pump Question

I'm swapping from a 2.8 to a 350... The guy I was talking to was under the impression that you can just run a mechanical fuel pump... Is this true? or do you need to mess with the old fuel pump in the tank?

If already posted please link me.

Re: Fuel Pump Question

depends on what type of pump is in the tank-port
injected engines have a two-stage turbine/roller pump
as stock-you cannot pull fuel through these without
running the pump.TBI and CFI use a two stage turbine
pump-you CAN pull fuel through these with the pump
inactive(done it)Certain carbed engines have a low
power single stage turbine pump-no regulator needed.
F/I pumps can be used with a regulator to feed a carb.
