well i found a 327
Quote:
I have a 327 Engine minus the main bearing caps for sale. This engine was purchased by me some years ago and came out of a 1972 Chevy Truck. I had it dipped (acid bath), cleaned, magnafluxed and bored .30 over. I have all the paperwork from the machine shop who did the machine work. I hate to let her go but It breaks my heart just watching her sit in the garage. I also have the Solid Steel Crank that came with it. It was professionally ground when the engine was done and have the paperwork to prove that as well. It is listed seperately for 50.00 or the both for 200.00. Engine is ready for a rebuild kit and assembly with the purchase of new main bearing caps.
so here is my question should i consider this or hold out for a 350.

what do i need to know about swapping out my 305 with one of these.

Re: 327 or 350

Get a 350. It is worth it and easy to find. Hell, i have a whole short block for sale for 100$, someone out there has to have something that cheap. Look for one out of a 87-95 GMC/Chevy for cheap. Remove the TBI and go with an intake unles you want power, then get some better heads.

Scores can be found, 96-98 Vortec 350 is what you really want. That would make your day.

The swap is simple, everything swaps out.

Re: 327 or 350

I think be a good idea. > unless someone can come up with a conversion and put a 454 with a 400 turbo behind our car :P. Any opinions about that? My dad had it in his 69 chevelle and it hauled arse.

454 is possible - there's many threads here on it.

With a big enough torch, and welding skills, ANYTHING is possible! Just depends on how far you want to go, and how deep your pockets are.

yes i thought about going with a big block but my pockets arnt deep enough for that. and i think a big block would be very frustrating to install.
