which cylinder heads

hello im looking at swapping in a 355 sbc. im looking at putting in a edelbrocke roller rocker camshaft
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-2204/
thants the camshaft imm looking at running. it hass 882 heads right now but ive heard bad things about them and want to look into diff options. so im wondering what kind of camshaft and intake i should run. i have a edelbroke 600 cfm carb. its going to be basically a street motor and i dont mind running 93 octane gas cause i usually do anyways but no higher. ive been looking at trick flow 23s im just not sure on the whole intake runners and all that stuff so let me know what yall think. thanks

Re: which cylinder heads

Well, it is a roller lifter cam shaft, not a roller rocker.

Vortec heads would fit the bill pretty good for you for the price. But if you have the money, a set of Patriot heads are outstanding for the pricee.

Re: which cylinder heads

yeah thats my bad. the vortec heads were and option but everyone says u need to do a bunch of work to make them worth a crap. the average price for good flowing vortecs after machine work is like 600 top 700 bucks. a nice set of trickflow 23s is 1100 bucks. i think id rather spend the money to get top of the line heads and build serious power. my real question is with this set up what size of intake runners and combustion chambers should i be looking for to acheve maximum power

That's about the best description for those carbs I've ever heard.

Top of the line heads and a bottom dweller carb - not the right combo for "serious power".

You'll want heads in the 180-200cc intake port range. AFR would fit the "top of the line" part. Or Brodix. Vortecs would be a big jump over 882's. This is a hard deal to beat http://www.sdparts.com/product/SD806...RPMAirGap.aspx . But, they are only 170cc heads, so look at AFR offerings.

The 882's and "Edelbroke" carb have got to go.

Probably okay. The guys making real power tend to go with the AFR's or Brodix.

Re: which cylinder heads

Pro comp heads are great for an aluminum head at a cheap price. A lot of other members have posted good results with them here : (Pro comp Aluminum heads). Super Chevy also did a budget build with them and put down some got nice hp numbers.
