I am putting a 350 into my car (formally a v6 -manual)
i don't want to use the auto transmission from my donor car, what manual transmissions will work with the 350? What about the clutch?
Sorry if this question has been asked a million times, but i couldn't find it when i searched.
Thanks!
T5 will be fine for a 350 alot of them don't recommend it for the fact its not strong. Its better than a 700r4. But won't take alot of abuse. Some is okay but Dump the clutch all the time hurts it and could explode. From what i heard.
Longevity for the T-5 (the world class is the better of the two choices) is dependent on driving habits: beat it and it will'go down sooner or later. That said, if you drive as sedately as I do, I doubt there'll ever be a problem--at least I haven't experience one in the four or five years that I've had the 350/330.
BTW, I'm using a CenterForce II clutch.

Just need to also point out, that if you are thinking of using the 5-speed from your V-6, the input shafts are different between the v-6 and v-8 5-speed transmissions.
you can get a t-5 that can handle 600 hp, but its the same price of a t-56, im going with a t-56 after reading t-5 can only handle 300 hp. im going to upgrade to a 350 tpi and want the extra strength to pass everyone up on the freeway. The t-5 is great, i just want the strongest and least hassle. plus 6 speed shifting is sporty. you can run different rear diff gears too.

v6 is 14 spline input, v8 is 26 spline input, mustang 10 spline. mustang and f-body v8 trans are the same inside gear wise, different outside. but look on the bright side, you can get any ol' t-5 and rebuild it for 300. 3 hundred isnt bad. those sic speeds, are sweet though, gotta admit.
if you want the 6 speed its better to have a doner car too cause the pedals and hydrolics and a couple odds and ends are needed. also a trans bracket will be needed too. i wanted to do a 6 speed swap but than opted for the t-5 for now. and than save the money for a tko-500. the strongest trans with lass hassle.
6 speed, new clutch, cross member from sphon, new throwout bearing, clutch assembly, shifter plate.. a little cutting and bam. im guessing $3200 total for swap. but maybe less than 400 bucks maintenance over the coarse of ten years, t-5 on 350-- maybe $2000 maintenance (rebuilding and such) makes me sad, i could have gotten a t-5 for $300 too.
i got a t-5 with the bell housing pedals crossmember and hydrolics for 250... just waiting for funds to get the paint done than everything will be droped right in
