Hey there,
Now if you're like me and you read numerous car magazines and forums online, then most of you have most likely seen the "Chevota" or "Supramaro" otherwise known as the 1967 EVS RS/SS Camaro with the 1000hp turbocharged Supra engine in it. Now I saw it, pondered it, and am now considering it for my 1986 Camaro. I just want to know if there are any other people who are daring to be different like me. I'm young and I didn't grow up off gas guzzling beasts of pure power like my dad's generation. The technology attracts me so hopefully you can see why I'm interested.

I want to know what you guys think of it. Has anyone else done this before in their Third Gen? How much work would need to be done? I don't know what the fitments would be like in an '86 compared to a '67. I know the '67s firewall had to be cut to fit the valve cover and the tranny tunnel had to be cut some. If there's anyone else doing this and know some do's and don'ts and some costs that would be so helpful. Thanks.

Ok my dad and I are planning to do the fabrication ourselves. and I have found a complete engine, tranny, wiring harness, and computer online for just under $2000 and thats with the twin turbos. I'm planning on putting on stage 2 cams with heavy duty valve springs with titanium retainers. does the fab work just cost that much or are you estimating like full on race 1000hp? im just wondering how much it costs to get it in my car

You can make anything fit and work with enough time, money and planning just to be different. Is it usually worth all the effort? Probably not.

I've seen that Camaro around and was surprised it took so long to swap the 2JZ into an f-body after Tokyo Drift came out...

Its 100% possible. But no one here on TGO has taken a serious interest in swapping a popular JDM (2jz, vq35, rb26dett, etc) engine into a thirdgen. I don't think it would be "too" hard but there is definitely going to be ALOT of fabricating as mentioned above. Mainly welding brackets and supports where necessary. All I can say is measure twice and cut once. You might want to start with a tubular kmember and suspension. Eventually I plan on doing something similar, but thats when I've acquired more funds and alot more automotive and fabrication experience. For now, I think I'm going to stick with an LSx swap and beat Supras with that...

Possible, yes. Practical, no.
It's an inline 6, the motor is very long. Your firewall has defiantly got to get moved back pretty far, thats throwing off trans, trans mount, torque arm, driveshat, trans tunnel.
Why would you want to put that motor into a domestic car when for the same price you can buy a drop in LS1 that makes more power?
