Call me crazy...

Before anybody gets crazy, i want to say this. Im making this thread to ask if this type of swap has been done/considered and if it were to be worth it anyway. Dont flame me if you're against it. Anyway, my brother recently totaled his.....03 cobra and has the motor, pcm and wiring harness still in the car. Im thinking...what if it were to go into a third gen? He's willing to sell it to me, but im wondering if its worth it. I realize the motor is awfully wide and tall, but im thinking it could fit.

If its wayyy to much to deal with to begin with, feel free to say so.

well i dont think fitment would be the problem since you can get a 454 in one,but how about the trans and rear?it will need alot of fab but can be done.

Re: Call me crazy...

well im totaly against using ford power on a chevy (except 9" rear), but the ONE PLUS to this, would be an awsome sick *** sound comming out of the exhaust. be weak and slow, but it would have that signature stang sound (and i hate stangs)

Weak and slow? Those motors are a catback and pulley swap away from 500hp.

Me thinks you're not very familiar with 2003/2004 Cobras.

At the end of the day, it's just a 4.6. Nothing to write home about

your right lol. just wierd that my mild 383 hangs with them just fine. i just never knew of any ford engines bieng a popular "power plant" amongst racers unless it was what they started with. i see more fords with sbc than chevys with sbf. wait you say pulley swap, so does that mean ALL cobras in that year range are super charged??

Yep. It's why they're so damn fast. It's a great setup. The bottom half of that motor, stock, is capable of some serious power. It's all forged, from what I understand, and the block is iron, not aluminum. I've heard of guys hitting mid 12s with them, completely stock. I think most guys run 12-14 psi with a pulley swap, up from the 8 psi out of the factory. As long as you get a tune, there's almost no risk of hurting that motor, either. Probably one of the best power platforms of the last decade, IMO. They make 450+ RWHP with pulley, cai, and exhaust....

To the original poster, JUMP ON THIS. What is he going to charge you for it?

Re: Call me crazy...

You should try it and use ford engine and transmission. Custom drive line. Then I'd think (guess) that youd need motor mounts, and somehow hook up the ford harness to the chevy. Would be an intresting swap

Re: Call me crazy...

Probably need to give the chevy anti rejection drugs to keep it from spitting that ford out of the engine bay.

Re: Call me crazy...

He's willing to sell it to me for 4grand. its already pullied and tuned and when it was running put 469/462 to the tire. I would actually love to do this swap and i can see its already drawing many opinions.
