I personally wouldn't put a crate engine in an open road racer. The rpms are sustained at high speed for too long at a time.

Oh ya. No problem. Little agressive and you'll have to watch it in incliment weather but if you want something that can run at the drags it's a good choice.

1.CARB - 1/4 E.T? - HP ?

2.TPI - 1/4 E.T? - HP? (ported & stock)

3.MINIRAM - 1/4 E.T? - HP?

Just wondering more or less what it would do,thanks.

If all goes well i'll let you know by the end of the year! Car was just started this weekend. I'm hoping for a solid 12 sec car on street tires. Basically its an EFI version of the ZZ430 that was once produced. later

Well dunno it is of much importance, but in car craft (I think) there is a 1st gen that has the ZZ430 and like 86IROCNJ stated, it is just a fast burn 385 with the LT4 HOT CAM. Anyways, the guy had this engine in his 1st gen and apparently got challenged by a Lamborghini. He promptly blew the guy away, says the article, dunno it it's true but just think of the damage you could do with that in a 3rd gen....ligther and better handling...I plan on doing it one day. I'd also like to know what kinda power it'd produce if it was EFI, mainly HSR or mini ram.

I don't know what kind of Lambo it was in that article, but i don't know if mine will be that fast nor do i expect it to be. I went with a miniram III. I hope to get it tuned and possibly take it to the dyno before the year is up, funds pending! If not i'll still have all winter to do stuff, like maybe a larger cam/stall. Don't know yet, it just needs to get on the road already! I already have a race lined up with my buddie's LS1 Vette and i plan on taking him. Its a 98 and claims its the ****. I say yeah, for scoring pu**y maybe!

Hey 86IROCNJ thats the way I want to go too, fastburn/miniram. Where did you get yours, ive seen the engine on SDPC200 but it comes with a carb intake that we really wouldnt need(wast fo money on the carb intake). Is there any way you can get it without an intake? Man hope your car makes some good et,hp,and torque. Im really considering this engine if all goes well(money wise),if not ill settle for the SDPC200 360 Vortec T.P.I crate engine. Keep us posted man I would really appreciate it pal.

Well, i bought the motor 2 years ago and it was under $4100 shipped. Now it is more i believe. I had planned on going carb but since the motor just sat here i sold the speed demon carb i bought and with the money i had saved over that time period i bought the miniram setup. I took off the intake, hei dist., water pump, and zz4 cam. I sold them all off and made some of my money back, not much but over $500! As time went on i kept saving and bought more parts like the injectors, lt4 hot cam, ect. I bought the lt4 hot cam kit, which Scoggin-Dickey recommended! not needed at all. All you need is a set of roller rockers, and the cam. The kit for $500 is a waste of money if you have the fastburn heads. I sold that stuff off too. The springs in the kit are the same as the ones on the heads, so yeah i feel they took me for a little ride! lol Bastards. Well, thats it. I guess you could call and ask them if they will just send the short block with the assembled heads and see what they say. If i knew exactly what i was doing back then, i would have done things a little differently. Its always best to decide or you will do what i did and change you mind every other day. Hope that helped you a little. later

Well its a little more expensive now (Fast Burn 385 w/ LT4 Hot Cam Upgrade Custom Crate Engine Assembly Price: $4,899.95
Part # SDZZ430B). But it already comes with lt4 cam,1.6 rockers, etc. The miniram plus rails is about $1250.00, that equals more than 6k. I will also need some other stuff prom, headers, throttle body, etc. What I want to know is what 1/4 et will this $6k+combo give me? Also will it be streetable, top speed, idle, etc?

Do yourself a favor and just buy the motor and then just the cam and roller rockers, not the kit. It is easy to install that stuff while the motor is out. You will save a lot of money that way. Enough to buy the fuel rail kit to go with the miniram! It "should" be a solid 12 sec car. As far as idle goes, its great so far. I went with an Ed Wright chip and so far so good. I would like to get into prom burnig though, its the only way to go IMO. I went with their chip b/c going from a 305 tpi prom to a prom needed for my new setup, i feel that would have been way too difficult for me to get right on my own! So i will learn how to tune off of this prom now. I feel it would have been too overwhelming for me, personally. later

Hey 86IROCNJ do you have any dyno results or 1/4 mile times so we could get a solid idea of the power of this engine combo. 430 is a really nice number to come out with....but I think it would be a lot less if you just took the bottom end of a L98 and put all the other stuff on it....Fast Burn heads, Hot Cam, Mini Ram III. I wonder if would give the same power as the zz4 bottom end? That'd be nice if is could, cut way down on that 6k cost.

305RSlc: I just got the car started for the first time in over a year last weekend. The motor is not broken in yet. As i stated above i should have hard data to provide by the end of the year. Hopefully both track and dyno numbers. I am running pretty much a stock suspension so, next year would be better for me i think. A dyno could still happen for me. The ZZ4 bottom end is basically an L98 but with a little better internals. TRAXION has so far proved otherwise though IMO. He's still got the stock bottom end and running great times to say the least. Only reason i went crate is because i was starting out with a 305! I did not have that bottom end to work off of. If i did i would have went 383 probally. With the crate i figured i would just throw a carb on it and call it a day, but it didn't happen that way. Things added up really quick for me and looking back on it...well you know how that goes!! lol Later
