electronic gauges to mechanical?

I'm switchin from a 88 2.8 fi to a 1970 307 and i was wondering if anyone knew if the wires that go from the sensors in the motor, to the ecm and then to the gauges or strait from the sensor to the gauges. if thats the case i can just switch to mechanical sensors and not have to buy all new gauges. any info would be appreciated thanks.

Probably your temp sensor runs a signal to your computer.I bought a set of mechanical guages for my 84 camaro when I switched from the v6 to v8.They come with all the hardware and fairly easy to install ,Oil pressure, coolant temp, amp.

All the guages on your dash have seperate sensors coming from the motor. Your temp sensor for the dash is located in the drivers side head. There is also one in the rear of the pass side head to controll the fan. If you want to use a switch for the fan all you have to do is ground that wire. The oil and volt guage wires should also work. I ran a new wire from the distributer to the tach. There may be one already provided but I couldn't find it.
