This is not third-gen related but, anyone know how it's possible to get a 496 big block? What bore and stroke combination would that be? I tried running different overbores and rod lengths and couldn't come up with anything that matched. Are they aftermarket rods with a different length? Different crank maybe? I'm considering buying this car and just wanted to know what I'd be getting.
With some expensive lightweight parts it could rev as high as a small block but most big blocks don't like going above 6500. That's a lot of weight moving around inside the engine.
With the proper choice of parts, any big engine can produce lots of power below 6500 rpm anyway. I only shift mine at 6400.

the new HD trucks and full size vans have 8.1 liter (496 cubes) those make a crapload of torque 340 hp and 455 lb ft. we have one in the tow van and it yanks the spitfire around like nothing.
