Hey All

Hey guys

Finally got round to registering so though I'd say hi to all.

Damn there are some nice cars on here.

I have a 1991 RS 3.1 V6 Manual. Yeah I know it's only a V6 but the bodywork is very sound so the wife and I have big things planned for it.

At the moment I am trying to decide on a set of 17" rims, and then will be getting a new exhaust, some under car neons and the paint tidied up.

Long term we are going to go for a small block crate v8 (around 350hp) with a 6 speed box and all the necessary bits and bobs required for such a conversion. May take a bit of time but will be great when we get there.

Hey Eric

I am from Southend in Essex. Land of the Saxos and Ford's.

I could buy a V8 Camaro, but since I know what the one I have is like then I fancy doing the swap and getting the car specced to what I want.

Going to be a couple of years before I have the funds which is why I am tweaking the car now.

Lucky for me the wife loves American Cars (she wants a shark nosed vette).

I will post some pictures when I get home.

As for 17's. Well I like the look of the Z06 replicas.Depends on how tough the spacers would be. Also fancy the Torq Thrust 2's, Chrome IROC's..too many choices.
Also depends on what I can get in the UK or how much to ship from the US. Not sure what width to go for either. Was looking at 17x8's all round.

Most people seem to be using the Skulte wheel adapters(they are strictly speaking not spacers),to fit either corvette or 4th gen wheels.I've asked about these before and many people are using them for racing.Spacers would put too much strain on the extended wheel studs. They're not cheap though but if you want to start modifying it's a money pit! I'm going to have to run these adapters with 4th gen fitting wheels to clear the huge calipers i'm going to run.By the way Boyd coddington make some very nice wheels at a very reasonable price.I think I was looking at about 600 quid for a set of 4 inc.shipping( but not duty!)

Eric

Thanks for the nice comments.
I know it's only a V6 but has loads of potential. For the moment I intent to jst make it look nicer and will then save for the huge V8 conversion cost.

I have seen so many wheels for the car it's crazy.
I really like the American Eagle 203's and have a quote of about £530 shipped to the UK for a set of 16x8's.
Have also asked for a quote on shipping a set of 17x8SLP's with Tires from LMPerformance which come in at about £760.
Thank *** for a great exchange rate at the moment.

The hard bit is finding a company to ship them.

for shipping,try www.moving-parts.com
If you speak to Steve Borland,he'll advise on the best way.He sorted my engine out with no problems.
You just have to have them shipped to a freight terminal in Newark and he'll do the rest.

I was very happy with BAX global.Scott Shafiroff used them for my engine block, crank and rods.It only took a week and was delivered to the door for $293.On the other hand GPS Logistics delivered my 9" rearend and I have never dealt with such an incompetent, lying ****.The rearend was in the UK for a month before they got their act together and the shipping on this was $600!.For smaller items I don't think you can beat the US post office.Cheap, efficient and so far I've never paid any duty!

Sorry eric had to edit that one Felix

Hey Locutus you're just down the road from me. I'm looking to invest in some new rims soon. I quite like the BBS RK wheel.

You can get them from www.performancealloys.com a bit pricey at about £250 each but they look cool.
I live 6 miles from Chelmsford on the road to Billericay.

Ouch bit pricey for me.
But look nice though

You should come to the next Essex AACI meet.
It's very close to you.
Boreham Interchange truck park. First Saturday of each month. Be cool to see you there.
Check out

Try these people for a huge range of wheels.I'm looking at some Boyd Coddingtons. They quoted me $97 shipping each wheel.I think the whole lot came to around $1000(around 550GBP)+duty.Which I thought was very good for a set of Boyds. They also sell loads on Ebay so you can check their feedback for piece of mind. http://www.axishp.com
