Today I started with my next project of changing the distributor, The new one is an MSD 8366 Distributor, this new one will give a good spark (since my old one not feeling too well..)
Here you got some pics (not done with the install yet, just started)
Unpacking in the garage
Controll of the distributor. Looks good.
Marking each wire for an easy reinstall, I will also use tape on the new dist cap for an really easy install of the wires (just to be sure on the right order)
The Wires will be changed to, got new MSD 8.5 mm super conductor cables in the garage to.
Not looking to good
Checking the position of the rotor
Marking out where the rotor shall point on the new dist (with a steelwire)
This bolt is sitting real HARD, could remove it tonight, will borrow a tool from my friend Andreas and remove the bolt with his "homemade" tool
Homemade tool

The homemade tool didnt work So I had to drill some holes and remove a piece of the distributorplate to get down with a good tool. drilled 5 holes and bent it away and could get down with the tool
Now I can remove the bolt that holds it down, with the right tool
Old dist. The gear looked really good. but pickup and module is f*cked..
The pickup coil did fall apart and the connections are broken...
Old (to the left) and new MSD to the right
I DONT!? think I have to use this o-rings right?!
In the manual it said, o-rings are ONLY for modified block.. I have a stock block.
install oil
Distributor back in place. Will continue with the install maybe tomorrow or on saturday when I could get some help setting the timing.

Car: 1989 IROC-Z Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: Th700R4 Axle/Gears: 3.27 | Re: Theking's Winter Projects 08 - IROCZ -89 Got some problems now... with the distributor install..
This is a pic of the old dist in place :
You can see that the steelwire points to right side of the rotor (seen from above)
And when the new distributor in place it looks like this :
Then it points to the left side of the rotor
The thing is that I cant get any closer with the rotor and I cant turn the distcap conterclockwise because the cables/wires from the ecm that connects to the dist (4pin connector) is TOO SHORT....
Is there enyway of solving this problem ? is there any extend adaptors for the 4pin connector or anything ...?! Dont want to cut it and solder in longer wires, want to keep the stock wiring..
any ideas / tips how to solve this ?

some pictures from the night in my garage.
Marked up where it was for IF I needed to try again when ive turned over the engine. (good thing todo if any problems comes up)
lined up the new distributor the same way as the old one.
Tried to connect the wires and check for clearnce when turning. worked well.
Distributorcap screwed down and on my way to bolting on the blastercoil.
Timing set to 6 Deg.
A final pic will come when ive changed the ignition wires (will do that on maybe friday )
also got some new stuff today (again)
more to come my friends, http://irocz.info.se/

Today I istalled my new Holley fuelpressureregulator. Its nice to have an new adjustable one.
Removed some stuff around the throttlehouse
Removed the TV-Wire plate
Plugged the waterhose
removing the 6 screws
Used a towel incase of fuel spillage (there was none today)
[img]http://theking.joakimweb.se/z28/project/gfx/holleyfpr-12.jpg[7img]
old regulator removed
Old one :
New one in place
Installed, and set to 46PSI (without vacuum) If the fuelpressure is too high could that make the car get an high idle when starting up when hot ? and after a while go down to the right idle again ? will try some different fuelpressures and see whats working best.. Also now with a little higher FP the fuelpressuregauge sender unit starts to leak a little, need to remove it and change sealant in that one... hopefully I will get it to stop leaking..
