Europe type headlights

Hi,
My Camaro project is almost finished, I need just paint it.
You can see some pics, but sorry description only on Latvian, soon coming here on English.
http://windcitycars.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=168

I bought she in 2005 for 1900Eur in Riga Latvia. I invested about 400 Eur to some maintanance, passed inspection and had one year of driving.
everything was great untill I catched a stone with my Camaro's left high beam.
Now she is under project and soon I'll need to pass inspection, and I will never pass it if I will get some US DOT type sealed beam.

What were You do in the same situation? I also saw some angels 4"x6" but DOT type. Do You have any ideas?

Re: Europe type headlights

Why won't you pass inspection with Sealed Beam units, when you did previously? They can be sourced reasonably cheaply.

If you do a search their are people on the board running alternative headlights in different housings, people running HID's etc. What are you looking for yourself?

Re: Europe type headlights

Hi,
At present I found solution for myself. I took part numbers of headlights from
very old Ford Escort and ordered new. now I can run h4, h1 bulbs, also I will be able to convert to xenon in future without disasembling.
also these lights are E type while I have problem to pass inpection with DOTs
In my country DOTs are not allowed.

Can you post the pat numbers that you used please? I presume they were Mk1 or Mk2 rear wheel drive Escort units?

Re: Europe type headlights

I dont know actual pn for these lights. I took entire beam and went to shop...

Look for HELLA SB203 for low beam and SB204 for high beam.
What escort it was I dont know... I only had chance to see grill and headlights.... C pictures.

pay attention to light intensitivity. You can find those numbers near E1 mark on beam. for example E1 12.5 or E1 25 when the sum of these all numbers should not be greater then 75.
example: 12.5 + 25 + 25 + 12.5 =75 ->OK
17.5 +25 +25 + 17.5 = 85 ->to much You will have problem with inspection guys.
