New motor and blower

Hi all,

Just an update with my setup. The 82 car and all the turbo motor dtuff is gone. BUT, still have the 92, the motor and trans has been sold. In its place is gonna be a newly arrived 406ci procharged motor with a TH400 trans I want to get the motor running by the end of the year, hopefully the car finished by April in time for the racing season. More updates as I do the work inc. the ongoing Porsche brake set up.

Re: New motor and blower

Did you get this engine custom built or is it secondhand? Is the car painted now? If so, you should post some pics.

Do you think you'll have the project finished by the (new) deadline?

Re: New motor and blower

The motor is secondhand, very high spec though like dart block, AFR heads, oliver rods, callies crank etc. Should be good for about 900hp ish.
The car is gonna stay black for now, The paint is good, but will respray it in a couple a years after all the other stuff is done. It has most of the suspension done, Corvette wheels, new Porsche brakes in progress. Really needs a new convertor, a better diff for the 9" rear, a new fuel system and a few odds and sods. The new motor uses a FAST MAP computer, where the car is a MAF setup. But the is a very good conversion guide on here without too much hassle. I really should change my outdated sig as well

Re: New motor and blower

What model is the Procharger and are you running a cog setup?

I hope you get it completed in time. You don't fancy entering it in TOTB next year do you? I was talking to Gordon about getting a few thirdgens entering.

Re: New motor and blower

It's a competition that has 1/4 mile, top speed and handling. I fancy entering it for fun and to get a bench mark...to improve the following year

Re: New motor and blower

Just a quick update. Got the steel and rod ends etc to build the torque arm and roll cage. Got the truetrac diff for the rearend. On its way are the Walbro fuel pumps and Magnaflow fuel regulator and fittings, Magnaflow 4" muffler. Gonna build the exhaust from 4" stainless. Gonna do the main fuel line in 1/2 air con pipe (copper), a lot cheaper than braided. Nearly got the powder coating set up done. Might do a few parts for anyone thats interested, when I got it goin.

Re: New motor and blower

Hi Neil,

Glad to hear you are making progress.

Bring the Camaro to TOTB once done. I'll be taking the GTA in the next few years, and Rob fancies competing in his Camaro also. There are already plenty of fast Supras :-) What is the spec on yours?

Re: New motor and blower

It was up for sale, but it didnt reach what I wanted on Ebay, then the usual clowns offering me low offers, so I thought what the hell do it. Im going blow through carb rather than EFI. Much simpler install. Ive had a few days off work, and am putting 12 hours a day in, Really going for it.
