Junk/salvage yards in Germany?

Hi.

So, basically, I was wondering if anyone here know of any good salvage yards in Germany. I'll be heading there this summer on a road trip, and as there are no salvage yards in Norway (at least not with F-bodies laying around) I was really hoping that I could score some parts while on the road. I'll be driving mostly through the northern and western parts of Germany, like Schleswig-Holstein, Niedersachsen, Nordrhein-Westfalen and Rhineland-Pfalz. If anyone know of junkyards, salvageyards, scrapyards, used parts retailers, or anywhere else for that matter where I might find usable f-body parts I would greatly appreciate it if you post it here or PM me.

Thank you.
- Dennis

You got any US military affiliation? Otherwise I can't imagine the junkyards having much more than the yards in Norway.

Re: Junk/salvage yards in Germany?

Hi RMK.

I will most definitely take my Camaro. It is a road trip after all. The plan is to go around the Nürburgring again, like last year. With my LG4 engine, my 1200 rpm stall and my 2.73 rear diff it's not the fastest around the ring, but it gets nice mileage, so it's a great road trippin' car (although it gets pretty loud at 120mph going down the autobahn)

Re: Junk/salvage yards in Germany?

Dennis,

Did you get a lap time last time around the ring? If not, try to get one this year and post them up, it would be interesting to see what you get. I'm planning to take my car out there sometime in the future for a trip to the ring and also the autobhans.

Did your car top out at 120mph last time?

Re: Junk/salvage yards in Germany?

Sorry, I didn't get a lap time last time. I could have gone faster, but my tires were only rated for 120, so I thought it would be best to stay on the safe side. I will get a lap time this year tho.

Re: Junk/salvage yards in Germany?

Thanks, I most definately will This year I'm also hoping to get some footage from the ring (even though it is slightly prohibited). I've been looking into getting a bumper cam to mount inside the grill or underneath by the air dam (somehow).

Even though I didn't get any lap times around the ring last year I did get some other pretty cool things on film. Like the Zonda R setting a new lap record :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvHm5my7kvs

Thats my brother and a friend of ours you see in the shot. And of course the Zonda breaking the sound barrier as it went by. The sound was absolutely incredible.

Re: Junk/salvage yards in Germany?

Hey!

In Essen, Northrhine-Westfalia is a junk/salvage yard with several fbodys (3rdgen).

http://www.us-rubberparts.de/

Thats their webpage, as you can see, they sell new parts like weatherstripping kits etc as well.

If there are any other parts you may need (3rdgen-related), let me know. I live some miles away from essen, but could be still on your road to the Nürburgring.

regards
Alex

Re: Junk/salvage yards in Germany?

Hi Alex!

Sweet. That looks great! We drive straight through Essen on our way down anyways, so this is perfect. I'll definitely pop by there on the way. Thank you Alex! I just might give you a call or something when we get close. Nothing is too far away, cause this year we've planned a little extra time on our way down for just such occasion. Do you by any chance know if they have any 4th gens laying around? I'm in the market for a T56, an aluminium drive shaft and maybe some new front seats (if they match my existing interior, which is grey)

Thanks again
Dennis

Re: Junk/salvage yards in Germany?

T56 could be difficult, I don't think so.
Aluminium driveshaft is a good chance, and front seats... hmmm..
I have some leather seats (front&back) from a 2000' Formula which I'd like to sell. Color is "graphite" or dark grey. Could be of interest for you.

Re: Junk/salvage yards in Germany?

there is a junkyard in baumholder that had a early 80s camaro and firebird. its one of the camaros that had the digital dash and such. cant remember what its designation is. the firebird is just a base model car. they also have an 88 camaro rs (i think) with a bad transmission (700r) for sale complete. decent shape too. if i wasnt doin my lt1 t56 swap on my 87 GTA i would have bought that car to toy with. i live very close to the nurburgring and can meet ya if ya want a comlete set if 97 camaro seats. theyre grey leather with the 30th anniv. embroidery on em. the drivers seat just has a small tear on it. lemme know.

**its a berlinetta**

Better get that GTA running rather then selling this guy your front seats

Finding parts like a good transmission in these parts of the world might indeed be a bit tricky.
