actually ground clearance is pretty good even with the 245/50/16 tires which are only about 25" tall.......i'll be switching to 15" weld draglites with 28" tires and ground clearance won't be an issue at all. it's just the camera angles that make it look like they hang real low

oh and here is one of the new 383........

please excuse the ghetto-fied upper radiator hose........could not find a single hose that would fit and the old one i had for my old stealth intake was too short so i cut it and put a length pipe in it till i can get back to jegs and get one of those flexible steel radiator hoses. hasn't leaked the least little bit yet so it should be ok till i can get back to columbus.

What kind of headers did you get? Do you have a part number? are they 1 3/4 or 1 5/8 primaries? Also where did you get the bends for right off of the collectors? sorry for all the Q's.

How much did you pay for that?

Places around here are charging from $300 to $500 for that exact setup.

Hey, I see you have a carb spacer. I'm assuming that would give you clearance problems with the stock hood, what kind of hood do you have on your car?

Nice lookin, not to nit pick, but I'd think a larger diameter air filter would look a lot better and flow better too.

Not to be a pain, but if you get a chance, break down the parts and part numbers. That set up is pretty close to what i've been thinking about doing. I just was wondering what pipes off the collectors, muffler, bla bla bla you used. thanks

2 pieces of 18"x2.5" straight pipe from miejer $3.99 each
mufflers: flowmaster 40series mufflers 389-42543 $59.99 each
home made turndowns free made from pieces of 2.5" pipe

i'll get a recorder and get a clip soon as i can.

Oh man thats awesome actually. Do they make any other cheaper long tubes for our cars? Id like to do that setup for the 350 i hope to get by next summer. The exhaust wouldnt even be practical on the 305 but it would sound badass

How hard were those long tubes to get under there? Is it so loud that the cops give you ****? Im actually considering that now since its cheaper than what i was gonna do and is much crazier.

Ok most long tube headers for our cars say that the headers wont fit with stock floorpan. How much does the floorpan have to be modified and do you have to modify them at all with the hooker super comps?

I wonder how bad clearance would be for me with 245/50/16s?? also running new struts and shocks.

Also how bad do the fumes come inside the car? Is it real bad?

i run 245/50/16 tires at the moment with stock springs and worn out shocks and the clearance is actually pretty decent. i am going to be switching back to 15" rims with 28" tires which wil give me another 1" or 2 and i now have adjustable coil overs in the rear so that is a real help too. more pics will be here soon as well as a sound clip i hope.

also..... my the only clearance problems my headers have is starter. i run a large diameter flywheel and my block only has provision for staggered starters so i run an s-10 4.3 v6 starter which is the same size as that real dinky lt1 starter (NOTE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS......with my said mounting provisions and larger flywheel........csi,crv, ect. ect. mini starters with multiple mounting positions would not fit. it had to be the gm starter. thank *** for Jay @ the local NAPA being a circle track racer telling me about this hot little tip:hail: ) no floor or tranny x-member modifications at all to clear the headers. they also clear my new angled plug heads better than straigh plug heads did. i can actually go back to using delco plugs WOOHOOO.

i have the headmam headers. the bottom comes down to the level of the trans so you need the "universal header extentions" i got mine from headman. they have an s curve and then you route it under the crossmember. alot of times thats all i have when going to the track. as long as you dont atract attention(speeding, squeling tires, loud system) the cops around here dont mess with you. the exuast doesnt come in that much but it depends how much you think is alot. One trip to the track and your going to smell like rubber and exuast anyway.
i just thought of something, they probably put weaker springs in V-6 cars and mine was originaly so thats probably why i have more problems with my exuast hitting the ground

they're probably digging around in a trash can. Exactly where they should be.

Im hoping they dont start doing emmissions here. We have a "state inspection" but you can always find shade tree machanics to give you a sticker. Id hate to have to swap exhaust and **** every once and a while to pass emmissions.
