Ok, I'm sick of the catback I have now, everyone in america has a flowmaster. So I'm looking for something that is deathly loud. What the loudest catback system I can get that still sounds good and throaty? And no, I don't want to run straight pipe or open headers

If wot, I'd go with Hooker, or you could just buy a Pacesetter cat-back, then throw a single chamber flowmaster on there, that should be loud, but not street legal.
I think I'm going to go with the hooker. I like the look of the dual tips on the camaro, so i guess it should look good on a bird. anyone got pics of it on a bird?

Yeah try to get an SLP Loudmouth fabricated for a 3rd Gen. Or just get hold of a resonator like they use in the Loudmouth series and get someone to bend you the piping. I wanted to do this but all I've seen is resonating tips and not a mid pipe resonator.
I have the Flowmaster 80 series with no catalytic converter. Taking the cat off definitely makes it louder also. I just want to get some pipes bent so the tail pipes come straight out the back instead of angled down.
i have a delta flow 40 series in place of my cat hooked up to my y-pipe. From what i hear everyone outside the car says its really loud. Sets off car alarms whenever i pull into a parking lot and every morning i fire it up i hear all the car alarms on the street beep. If you want loud, get headers and loose the cat. Surprisingly enough, that delta flow crap really works. Its actually quiet enough to listen to the radio or hold something resembling a conversation inside the car. i hear you about the 80 series, i never liked the way they sounded. Too hollow, especially with a large diameter I pipe. Although, i like the the way my 40 sereis sounds, even if it is a bit obnoxious as far as the sound levels go.
With my setup I have turndowns facing to the sides which keeps the sound level decent from inside the car but when I drive by people they hear it and I see heads turn. Also sets off car alarms.
I drive by all the rice that parks in the corner of the lot at Marshall just to set their alarms off
What about that chambered exhaust that someone posted a link to not long ago? I was interested in that. I might try that out if I get my project car for the summer.
The Banks kit is a chambered design I think.Aparently they still have their exhaust systems avail for purchase.it used to have a wicked sound to it,and I figure it still does..may want to check them out.
Yeah,I have heard their system before. It sounds good, but it is pretty pricey, whick i why I recommended the Banks system.I thought it had just as good a sound ,but with a much better price tag!
if you want something loud go with my setup it sounds AWESOME. I love it there is only one drawback tho and thats the ground clearance issue but it really isnt that bad.
What does everybody think about really short glasspacks?

Went to the track and ran a 15.529@94.50 on 245/50 street tires with 40psi pressure.

To me, glasspacks belong on old jacked up rusted out pickup trucks. I'm not a fan of "Loud" exhaust. Yeah, I want to be heard but to me a good tone is much more important.
thanks for your thoughts. Anyone else have any opinions about glasspacks?

What about 1 chamber flowmasters? I heard a pair on a Ford 5.0 today and it was frickin LOUD!!! I know they'll be loud on a Camaro, but will they sound good?
My exhaust is split at the back with 2 Dynomax Bullet Mufflers...and two 3 1/2 tips. It sounds very very nice. It is agressive not deafening at idle but when you get on it, you'll get noticed. Plus the muffs are only 31.00 each out of Jegs...Go for it you'll love it!:hail:

The Loudmouth is nothing but noise. Yeah its an OMG its the end of the world loud, but still just ugly noise. If you got the cash, go with Borla. You can go from slightly above stock to something that will rival any 'Stang with Flows and dumps in terms of loudness and still sound good.

I just got a hooker catback for xmas Finally ground clearance. Im tired of having extremely loud exhaust. It gets old really quick. I just want something that sounds good. I hope the hooker catback will. Now I just need a set of TES or 2055s and Im set.
BTW be on the lookout my current exhaust will be up for sale soon.
Ill post you guys on how the GmmG chambered exhaust sounds. Ill be ordering mine after newyears. Should be loud and throaty, hopefully louder then my buddies 95z

I hope your not talking about Magnaflow Terminators? IMO Terminators sound worse then stock exhaust. If you want LOUD but still bearable at idle with no backpressure, Get a Dynomax Bullet muffler. I love mine. Cheap and sound great. http://www.dynomax.com/race.stm

One of the best cat-backs we've used is ATR Performance's Pit-Bull setup. All the GN guys I know swear by them and turned me on to them. It's an all stainless cat-back and a pretty loud system, but doesn't drone like the Flowmasters. They definitely outflow the Flowmaster.
Don't forget the most important part of being loud. Time and time again everyone always forgets this. Power generates sound. A 170 horse car can only make so much noise. If mine were more powerful it'd be loud as all hell through this system.
It always seems like the TBI/LG4 guys that want to be able to feel each cyl. firing when standing next to or sitting in the car... but that won't happen. Compression and displacement have something do to with it too. (From what I normally see)
I did get compliments on the Camaro's exhaust note all the time. Medium loud, little but not overly raspy, not really just a tiny bit hollow sounding. Picked up .6 in the 1/4 from the headers and cat delete alone. Yet its only a single 2.5 pipe between the y-pipe and the muffler? Why such a power increase while still using such small pipe? Because, its the perfect flow capacity for the amount of power the engine is making. I lost no low end at all. I saw gains across the entire powerband, very noticable when driving even at low/slow speeds. Thats why it sounds so good as well. And since I didn't plan on heavily modding the car, it didn't hold me back in the long run.
