I am running duals under my car. I am wondering what kind of power differences are there between an X-pipe and an H-pipe? I do not need to hear about Mufflex's system because I can't afford it (well I can but refuse to spend that much on the set up)or no ground clearance, b/c I have taken care of that issue. Um good question. I know that an H-pipe tends to add torque to the system and allows for a more balanced system. I dont really have any experiance with x-pipe setups, but for my gut feeling, id say run an h-pipe. I dont have any facts to back this up, i just think that a x-pipe would do more to disrupt flow then to help. BTW, got any pics of your system? Im still kicking around designs for my true dual setup. and who did the install on your car?

Because of the firing order a pair of cylinders on each bank fire right after the other (5,7 and 8,4) which creates alternating pressure spikes in one pipe versus the other.

The X and H both improve lowend torque by equalizing the pressure in both pipes - the X being better because it provides a direct path for the gases to go to the other pipe as opposed to making a 90deg turn with the H pipe

The X pipe gives up a little hi-end hp compared to the H pipe- not much - Hot Rod did a comparison a few issues back that showed the X pipe made 16 ft/lbs more and 3-6 hp less than the h-pipe

The X pipe does a better job of canceling sound waves - makes for a quieter system

What about having both?? which first? how much space between them?
