just got my catco converter in the mail, BIG PROBLEMS! please help!!

ok i recently bought a dynomax cat back and i tholught a high flow catco converter would be a nice touch to my set up. Now heres the deal, the intermediate pipe (near the converter) is an oval port. The converter (catco) is also an oval port, but the problem is its an oval port on the other end too (near y pipe). Whats up with that?? my y pipe doesnt have an oval port nor does it have a flange (like converter does on both sides), please tell me there is an adapeter that will allow this to bolt up to my y pipe.......

Well the stock exhaust on my 1985 305 TPI Z-28 has the oval flanges. The CAT has four bolt flanges on both sides of the CAT.

hmmm.

I don't know for sure, but if you ordered the universal, I heard that it needed to be welded as oppsed to the direct replacement which can bolt up but is like twice as much.

Sounds like you ordered the correct cat for your car, but it sounds like you don't have the original y-pipe on your car for some reason. It is my understanding the stock 85 setup has bolt on flanges on both ends of the cat... From your description I'm not sure if they're going to have a cat that is going to fit correctly, you'll probably end up just getting a universal cat w/ slip fit on both sides and having an exhaust shop get everything attached and welded up correctly...
