why do flowmaster mufflers have a "break in period"

Ok, how is it that they get louder? wut happends inside of them that causes them to get LOUDER? especialy when there is noabsorbsion (sp) materials. how long should it take? cause mine seems to be getting quieter. had in on for a week, maybe im just getting used to it.

either the metal gets heat-treated or the insides get coated with soot. I dunno why. My 40 series never had a break in period, just the 80 did.
