Hedman long tube headers: 68460 street vs. 68464 tork-stepped
68460 is Hedman long tube street headers for 82-92 firebird and camaros. 1 5/8" primaries and 3" collector.
68464 is Hedman long tube tork-stepped tube headers for 82-92 firebird and camaros. 1 1/2", 1 5/8" primaries and 3" collector. Here is a pic of the tork-step headers:
Which type header do you think is better and why? On hedman.com, it says that the tork-step tube headers give a faster acceleration and I was interested in this because my car is slow on acceleration. Here is a pic of the chart from the site showing the faster acceleration with the tork-step tube headers:
Are those numbers real, or are they ? Would you recommend the tork-step over the street headers or vice versus?
Also, what do you think about the HTC coating that you can have put on your headers? Is this stuff just a good or better than jet hot or the other companies that ceramic coats headers? I am into the hedman headers because they are cheaper as compared to hooker and I don't drag race, just city driving, so I don't think that I would notice a difference with the more expensive headers. I figure Hedman's are the best for price vs. quality.
i didnt realize they made tork steps for these cars, but clearly they do...how much more are they?
i have never heard of anyone on here using them and have never used them....
i do have the regular hedman long tubes. i think they are great.
get the jet hot coating if you want them coated.
as for that graph, they are comparing the torque step hedders to the small, short OEM mustang headers. if you put any real set of hedders on that car, they would all produce about the same results.
the reason your car is slow on the acceleration side of things is because its a 305 TBI....hedders will help ...but until you yank that boat anchor, and replace it with a nice healthy 350+ cube motor, there is only so much you can do.
