OK been bouncing around with this idea, I know some people are doing the LM set up on third gens and I know it requires some fab, but that's ok. Problem is I'm looking for loud, deep throaty tone, my buddy has an LM on his 01 Z and it's ear splitting, some people tell me the LM isn't as loud on a third gen but it also depends on the motor. I got a 383 that is being made for me in november for my 91 Z now I would think that would sound better than when the LM is hooked up to the LS1, some people have suggested to go with a Chambered exhaust system saying it's the loudest they've heard. Any opinions?

I have heard a LM LS1 car without cats and long tubes and it was horrendously loud and raspy. Not my cup of tea. I have also heard an LS6 berger SS with the GMMG cat-back anf long tubes. This set-up did have cats but the overal loudness of the two was similar at idle. Loudness aside the GMMG is far more refined (this is mostly because of the cats). I would never run the LM unless I had cats. You could look into putting a bullit muffler in the I-pipe to tone things down a bit.
I run the loudmouth on my 91z28 without any cats and it is earspliting loud. i am in the process of getting a new 3" intermediate pipe so I can install a B&B triflow mufler on it. My 383 with headers and no cats will definitly get me pulled over if I continue to run the LM
I have the Loudmouth with headers and a cat, and I'm running the ZZ4 cam. It sounds better than the LS1 cars with the same system, IMHO. The LS1 has a different firing order, and IMO, it just doesn't sound as good as the tradition FO.
I've heard the GMMG and it's certainly a bit more refined.(although I'm not sure why?) I chose the obnoxious sound of the LM, but it's my weekend car, not my DD.
Willie, I've always loved your car, and all the effort that goes into it. ....and that exhaust sounds awesome.
.....but short of open headers, nothing I've ever heard compares to the blatant lack of respect that the Loudmouth belches outward into one's community.
...and you can quote me on that. hehe, I think that's going in my sig.
Don't get me wrong, it can easily be considered too much. But for my weekend driver it's what I wanted.
I'm gonna have ta chime in on this one. The video of Willies car does no justice to the actual sound. The video actually makes his car sound normal. In person though that thing is freakin insane. Inside the car the sound is sick. As for driving in the neighborhoods, Willie usually drives slow so he doesn't make a lot of noise. Hell, I pulled up next to him in my car and we tried to have a conversation one day and it was almost impossible without both of us yelling. But, on the flipside, I do like the Loudmouth system also.

Well considering the audio on that clip was recorded through a pinhole microphone on my camera, I wouldn't expect it to be a true representation. The only way to "get a feel" would be to sit in the car and go for a ride.
As for the loudmouth, heck it uses a single straight through cherry bomb for a muffler. You'd expect it to be loud and obnoxious with resonance at certain rpm ranges. In my opinion, mine is pretty loud, but smooth throughout the rpm range and does not produce any resonance.
Remember the time I pulled up behind you at a traffic light and you told me later than you couldn't hear your own car's exhaust when I did? j/k. But it'd be an interesting experiment...
Thanks for all the opinions, I'll try the LM on my car if it's not what I expected I'll have to work something else out. But for a weekend car I want it to make all the mustang drivers green with envy!!!
