Hey guys, From everything I have read on here it says that the y-pipe for the hedman headers (17470) is 2.25in into a 2.5in pipe, But on the Summit wesite it says its 3in. Anybody know whats up here?? If its two 2.5in pipes into a 2.5in pipe I'm buying it and weldin on some 3in... thanks
the hedman y-pipe i got from jegs was a 2.5, but it didnt say what size it was on the page where its listed. maybe they have a 3in y-pipe too, im not quite sure. you might want to call and double check..
The illustration would indicate a dual cat system.
http://www.hedman.com/pages/y-pipes.html That's the picture that matches the description I've always heard - the "3-inch outlet" is really an adapter that allows the pipe to slip-fit to a 3" cat.
I wouldn't take Summit descriptions or pictures to the bank.
Ok i Have a better undersatnding but I am still lost on if the 2 pipes coming off the headers are 2 1/2 or 2 1/4, Is there any 2 1/4 on the y-pipe at all??

This is what I did to mine though, to get a 3" outlet... see the red line? Cut it off here.
I just did the same thing. I cut mine off there and took it to the tire shop to have it made in 3"
As it comes the two header pipes merge to a 2.5" pipe at the y. The 2.5" section is 16-18" long, then is adapts to 3".
My new y-pipe is now 3" the entire length, along with the rest of the system. I'm going to have a Bullet, exit out the passenger side in front of the tire.
It would be cool to add a venturi at that point where the header pipes merge!
