hey, i just got a 350 ram jet dropped in about 4 months ago and i have the stock exhaust i have hedman headers and then 2 1/2 inch single exhaust one cat and a flowmaster muffler....im looking for a way to run true duals but still have 2 cats so i can pass inspection....any ideas?
Check this out it's been on the car for about 4 years with little problem. As long as you have good shocks and struts you should be fine. I hope that works right. I'll see if i can get a better picture under the car for you.
aight, i have a 1982 camaro z-28, it had a 305 with crossfire injection, i took that out and dropped in a 355, i have hooker competition shortie headers, the problem is, i cannot bend the 2.25" exhaust pipe tight enough from the reducers so that they go to the side and run parallel with the body of the car, i have purple horny mufflers and i want each pipe to exit in front of the rear wheels. any suggestions are welcome, pics of different set-ups with these headers would be awesome!
summit sells a kit that will run you to the side all the way back over the axle and out the back. granted they both come out on the same side in the rear but it sounds pretty sweet. I think you can see where they exit in my pic. Kit was only like 150 dollars.
i have an 88 iroc i wana put a tru dual exhauts on it but everybody tells me i can't because theres no room and a cold air intake please help me im sure there is a way i can do it if you have any suggestions write back
LOL.....my old 84 TA dual exhaust is in those pics and I see several cars now using that set-up here. Funny......everyone here said it was a bad idea back when I did it.
I ran duals on my 88 and the only problem I ever ran into was clearance. I lived in Phoenix, AZ for awhile and the speed bumps can kill your exhaust. I crushed some sections of the exhaust a few times. It sounded great and looked ok though. I had Hedmann short tube headers, ran the tubing back to just behind the front seats with Flowmaster's on each side and just dumped it out the end of the muffler.
Does anyone have any pics of ideas of running true duels with SFC??? I have comp engineering sfc in and it's a pain to get any exhaust to fit right I have hooker on right now, but it has a real ugly y pipe coming off hooker shorty's. I want to get hedman LT's and run true duels any suggestions??? Or pics of routing with SFC...
Thanks!
Looks pretty good, any fitment problems w/ the 2210's??? Every lt's i find say they won't work with a standard tranny. I have a t-10 w/ mech linkage so I might have to stay with shorty's... My SFC's are a little different than yours though... But I think I can tuck the exhaust in...
well, alls i can say is "you gotta pay to play". if he wants to run a t10 and longtubes, modifications may be required. that's kind of part of hotrodding...bolt on's never are
Yea that's exactly what I'm worried about. I'm thinking about going a dif route now. Hooker is finally makeing a y-pipe for the headers I have. Thinking of getting that even though it's like 240 bucks and running a 3'' classic chambered muffler, then a short pipe and a dump before the axles. There's another car running pretty much the same thing on here and it sounds pretty mean. With my cam it should sound a lot better than the hooker catback I have, way to mellow.
Here is my 3" to 2 1/2" exhaust. The 3" was made from mandrel bends which were cut and formed together. After the X pipe they reduce to 2 1/2 and are taken side by side over the axle. In the back it is ran with magnaflows kind like a vette is with muffler location.

I look at these exhausts and Why????? you can get just as much flow out of a single exhaust and have alot mor ground clearance, and you dont see it form the side of the car.....Just my 2 cents
hey guys, i got a huge question... well a few... i have an 87 berlinetta camaro originally with a 2.8 6 banger... swapped the motor trans n rear out with a rebuilt 700r4 with a shift kit.... 3:73 posi and a ram jet 350 with 350hp and 400 tq... i have a hedman shortys with a y pipe and single exhaust with dual outlet 2.5'... i wanna put duals on it but like i have seen in the pics some ppl run it down the middle by the drive shaft... yet i dont think theres room on my car for that and on the driver side there isnt like a cut out in the floor or anything i could run a pipe there but im not sure if it would bottom out... i have really stiff springs in the front so idk... and then i saw it ran on the passanger side with 2 pipes... would it work on the berlinetta model? this is killing me... i took it to meineke and they were like ya cant put true duals on and i just walked out...
second question: feels like my motor is restricted and doesnt actually have 350hp and i have no clue why.... one shop said it could be the wiring but there are only like 6 wires from the ecu and three of them go to nothing but it runs smooth but jus feels restricted and has really shitty gas milege... and the tranny shifts at like 4100 when you dont shift by yourself... any ideas? im lost... and i was thinking about a supercharger and then ppl siad i cnt cuz its only a 2 bolt main but i figured i could run like 6psi... someone help me out plz... thanks

why don't more people use the dynomax dual kit? or at least buy the kit, get someone to bend 2 1/2's like the kit, then return the kit? i run the dynomax kit, which is dual 2 1/4's. i run summit shorty headers and thrush 2-chamber mufflers. it sounds pretty good for a pretty much stock 305 and has pretty good ground clearance. actually better ground clearance than my stock single exhaust.

Is that the 89009 kit?
The pictures I've seen show that it is NOT mandrel bent. Is that true?
It's pretty cheap $163 at Summit. I'm thinking about buying this.
yea, that's it. it is compression bent but if you are really runnin that much horsepower where you need it not to be compression bent you could get someone to bend a system using that as a model. i think it's a pretty good system although it was a little tough gettin it on. but make sure you use the headers for that system. i didn't and i had to modify it because my headers didn't have the same angle as the headers you are supposed to use. it's pretty cheap though so i figured "what the heck" it can't be worse than the exhaust i had before. sound's good even with my 305
i guess i killed it huh?i think they sound good allthough i dont no what they would sound like with a 383 and 450+horseess iam just starting my exhaust as all of u that put true duals and had them made u notice u have to drop down 2-3inch to clear crossmember.
I finally got some pics from underneath the car. Remember that everything except the mufflers have been on the car for 5 years now. The only thing I have done to it is replace collector gaskets about 500 times and replaced both reducers. In the process of doing that I brought the front of the passenger pipe closer to the floor which would have been a big help before I replaced the front struts. But anywho. Let me know what ya think.SD530857.JPG
here's one more from the back. I know the mufflers I tucked up pretty far to were the muffler's exit is hitting the axle but there's not a whole lot of room under our cars so it'll have to do for now.SD530862.JPG

At 2x 2-1/4", the flow area is more than a single 3" exhaust so it's not bad. A 3" exhaust currently handles my current 375HP pretty good.
You said it was a pain to get on. What exactly was the problem? Bad fitment?
This is a Hedman entry level header ( 1/4 " flange and 18 gauge tubing) with collectors reduced to 2 1/2". Stainless mandrel bends cut to fit and then to a flowmaster stainless merge pipe. A Flowmaster 3" aluminized (from a cat back system) goes over the axle into the muffler and a single 3" tailpipe.

the headers is so close to the starter are there any issues about this? because I got the same headers that you got, guys Im thinking of doin my 92 Z28 dual exhaust and I really dont know which mufflers to get I want something Loud louder than SLP's I will put X pipe and two mufflers and turndowns
lol, can anyone give me some advice on what i should do to a 1986 camaro sport coupe, because i need to replace the whole exaust system and i am wondering how much that will cost and the possibility of duels (after i put in a 350 of course)
