Any carb guys run Borla XR1's?

I have the Flowmaster Force II single 3" on my car right now.I am tired of the FM loud sound and drone and have been looking for awhile for a new muffler.I looked into the Dynomax Ultra Flow welded (oval) series and really like what I see..but am afraid it will have the glasspack clap when I am uner throttle.I looked into Spintech as well as Magnaflow..but I am looking to try and go quieter as well as keep great flow. These both seem to be loud.So I started to think about the Borla XR1 series mufflers..what do they sound like on carbed cars?I know each one is different. My main concerns are..Do they flow well? How bad is the drone? If they do.Do they sound like a glasspack on carbed cars? Are they relatively quiet?I am staying with the single 3" layout, just wanna change the muffler.Car has no cat either.I am looking for a nice mellow rumble at idle, not this tinny bass idle it has with the FM...NO DRONE at cruise..great flow...and it can scream at WOT as long as it doesn't sound like a damn glasspack.I don't have the money to start ordering muffler after muffler till I come across the one that I am happy with unfortunately.Any ideas are more than welcome.

The Borla XR1 Sportsman model I was looking at is part#157-40944 in Jeg's.3" in/out with a case length of 16".

Any opinions on Hooker Areo Chambers or Maximum Flow are also welcome!

The XR1 is a very well flowing and nice sounding muffler. Very loud though. If you're into loud racey tones, also take a look at dynomax bullets. They're very nice sounding and cheap as well.

Magnaflows are loud and bassy, but sound nice. Much more overall "presence" than a flowmaster.

Hooker Aerochambers tend to be less bassy, but louder than magnaflows.

my hooker SCREAMS at 3500. it is really amazing, i get way more looks now then before when i decide to open it up a little.

i just got my hooker on yesterday and it is not that deep or "bassy" as my old setup. However, i do like the fact that it is relatively quiet at idle and when you step on it this thing absolutely screams!

i was giggling like a school girl when i first opened it up with my hooker on there!

my old setup had some bassy tone to it though. it was the stock 82 Trans Am setup over and behind the axle but it didnt have a cat. I was also running a "turbo tube" which really reverberated in the cabin at idle.
i admit i am going to miss that idle tone but i love the way my hooker screams!

i have a dynomax ultra flow, AND a bullet muffler inline and my exhaust is very tame.

the borla XR1 is not all that loud. ive heard them on a 2.5 inch setup and they sound very nice. a different sound to say the least. real strong sound, but much less then other mufflers.

hooker or dynomax is your best choice if you want a quiet exhaust.
