from ultra loud to loud to hopefully quiet

hi there,

my engine swap is done (heavy built 350 ~ 400+HP) and now my car is still very loud.
Exhaust setup:

hooker shorty headers
carsound cat (just to quiet it down ;(
front to back 3"
first off I had a hooker max flow but that was just too much
then we installed a summit muffler but it still has 100db at idle!!

I'm still a hooker fan, do you think an aerochamber could help a bit? heard that it is quiet at idle and has not that much resonance in the interieur...

I live in Germany, and the cops don't like to see such loud cars so I need help before they catch me
greetings

S!MON

wow thats crazy that ur car is still that loud!

i would think that a hooker will still be somewhat loud.. maybe not as much at idle but will scream up top.

same with flowmaster 80's. should sound mean on a built car

i would also look at the ultra flo from dynomax. they flow extremely well, and are somewhat quiet.

hmmm, maybe it is that loud because of the single pipe. I think the exhaust gases reach really high speeds in there...

It may rumble when I am above 2000rpm...but at cruising speeds it should be more quiet. What a pity when the aerochamber also is that loud in this range.
With the dynomax I still can hear my car, right I'm a big fan of the deep sound, so I thought Hooker would be a perfect fit.

@superGMman: not really. a f-body is some kind of exotic car over here, people without a clue also think sometimes it would be a vette.
in the early 80s the cars (overall the corvette) had a bad reputation to be driven just by pimps. But its getting better now. But there is a huge us-car community over here. the german TGO looks like that: www.bandit-online.de

the aerochamber would quiet it down at idle but it will still scream at WOT.. i a have a somewhat tamer setup than u (355, 320-350hp) and its not too bad at cruising speeds (2450rpm... 3.73s..hehe) but at WOT she screams.. and i love it

seems to be the thing I need.
maybe I will order the dynomax and the hooker and test it out. there is always someone in germany who like to have a new muffler on his f-body.

more experiences with the aerochambers?
greetings

simon

the most common comments here are the gas-guzzler jokes. all these wimps with their 1gallon micro cars...lol.

ridiculous!!

but it's hard now: 1.33€ (1,62$) for one liter gas.

This means 6$ per gallon!!! Tax and insurance not mentioned!

But I love my car, so I'm wiling to pay that...even if it makes me poor

Greetings

Simon
