While I was taking the y-pipe off to install a starter, the 2 studs broke off on the passenger side. Can I take a die grinder and cut off the stud and then drill it out and use a nut and bolt? Really don't want to purchase headers at this point. Oh yeah, I was planning on doing this with the exhaust manifold still on the car (going through the bottom). Does this sound like it will work? Any reason not to get a couple of studs from the Help! section?

LOL, I thought they were welded from the top. Any suggestions on removal? These things are so corroded that I doubt I can use the double nut trick. I will give it a shot though.

Any other suggestions? These things are so in there that using 2 nuts is not taking these off.

is this an f-body your trying to instll a starter on?.....if so why are you taking off the Y-Pipe? there is no need

To make a long story short, it is a 92 Z28. I bought it without a starter. Normally, I know there is no need to take off a y-pipe (usually). I was ripped off on this board by some guy named Cody something. He sold me a starter and he told me it would fit a 92 305 f-body. I don't know what it was off of b/c it wouldn't line up, different bolt holes the whole nine yards. That is why the y-pipe is down, thought maybe some factory screw up was causing it not to fit above the y-pipe.
