Heat shield do I need ?

Just want to know if I realy need the heatshield over the rearend . Not the one over thegastank. My 3" exhaust rubs up against it and makes noise . Can I just put some heat wrap around it or do I eaven need it .

rip it out. it's just added weight anyway. by the time the exhaust reaches back there its not as hot as it is towards the front and wont hurt anything.
