1 3/4 Header Options

Hey guys,

What are my options for 1 3/4 headers? I know about the hooker super comp headers, any inexpensive shorty header options?

No, it's a comlete new design...but similar.
3/8th thick 1 piece flanges, raised port, ball & socket collector and they don't hit the steering. (oh, they are 2 1/2" outlet)

Yesterday I was at Don's shop (DynoDon) and I saw those headers and y pipes and i was impressed. This guy is genius, I wish if i bought Don's headers and y pipe instead of my SLP Tri-y

Re: 1 3/4 Header Options

I have a set of Don's 1 3/4" headers on my car along with his 2 1/2" wye pipe. I have to say it is a first class set up. Making 350rwhp with a high stall converter and A4. Hoping to be making more than that in the near future. Don's exhaust is a big part of the power.

Re: 1 3/4 Header Options

1989GTATransAm, are you running dual cats? Do you have SFCs, if so, what brand; I'm curious about clearance between SFCs & exhaust. Don said he could fab a set of SFCs to clear exhaust (his headers; I have Magnaflow direct fit dual cats now).

Yes I'm running dual cats and there is plenty of clearance. I'm also running Don's subframe connectors with no problems. With Don's sub frame connectors there are no clearance issues. I'm running a 3 1/2" exhaust pipe from the actual wye on back.

How would these headers fit together with the subframeconnectors from topdown solutions, the Alston racing ones?

Whats up man!

Just working and stuff. Trying to FINALLY finish up with this SHO Taurus in my garage. Once its completed, I will begin tearing down the Camaro. Imma try to get it through emissions first and if I can, Im taking the tags off of it. I finally have pics of the 383 Im building. I had a brief moment when I wanted to build a LS1-style engine (408 inch LQ4 actually) but the prices are rediculous. Plus, I have a lot of $$$ tied up in the 383 block alone (billet caps, main girdles, lifter vally girdles, etc) and no one wanted to buy it. I am selling my HSR since Im not gonna use it anymore...

Arent you on AIM?

Sorry for the hi-jacking! LOL!

If you don't mind, could you tell me your source for the flanges and ball socket on the y-pipes. I've been looking all over and can't find any. I'm looking for 2 1/2 inch ball sockets with the flanges. PM me if its more appropriate. Thanks.

The flanges are found locally, and the ball socket is made on the same mandrel-bending machine that makes the headers.

Pics have been posted in this forum before, but the minimal search makes them hard to find right now.

Looks good! Can we get a shot from under the car, when the installation is complete?

Re: 1 3/4 Header Options

hey Dyno Don how much do you sell those headers and y-pipe for ? also I don't need the a.i.r. tubes. Also how much would it be to ship to Port Allen, Louisiana (70767)?
----------
also no cat will be installed.

Yes please, a Y-pipe price for the loyal fans with the headers sitting in their garages.

I have the Global West subframe connectors. Will there be issues with the fitment?

Re: 1 3/4 Header Options

I'm sending a PM for prices; this is a great looking setup.

What are the specs as far as tubing? Is that y-pipe dual 2 1/2" to single 3" ?

Re: 1 3/4 Header Options

The reason long tube headers are not smog legal is not because they put out more smog than shorties, but because the law is written to say you cannot modify the location of the stock cats. And you must have the AIR tubes. With long tubes it changes the y-pipe and so it changes the cats. Its stupid but that's the way it is right now.
