leaking header gasket=less power?

I had to change my header gaskets today and i found that 6 out of 8 tubes were blown out or leaking pretty bad which is no big deal the only thing is when i drove the car later it felt like it had gained alot of lowend power now it barks the tires going into second and breaks the tires loose anywhere in first gear, now dont get me wrong im not complaining about this but i didnt expect it nor does it make sense i could understand gaining a few ponies but this thing is a whole new beast so i guess my question of the day is how much power could you lose if you have blown out header gaskets?
